The Universe Dress represents my experience of being a woman: vast, self-contained, and ever expanding and contracting.
My universe is always changing, with sometimes more and sometimes less responsibilities, opportunities, duties, obligations, resources, expectations from self and others, discoveries, options, paths, barriers, bridges, connections, and space. And perspective matters, too. With a change point of view, what seemed to be darkness is really just space between light.
Constructed mostly of reclaimed gowns and materials of different textures, the universe dress also represents transformation. The garment lights up, and can be adjusted to fit all body types to be inclusive of all genders.
The universe is the ultimate model of reuse and recycle; I am made of the stuff of supernovas. The Universe Dress reflects elements of earth, fire, water, air, gravity, and ether. It has folds, twists, bends, and opposing forces that hold the whole thing together.
Still, there is more than meets the eye.
